Who is RYO?
Rockhampton Youth Orchestra (RYO) is a beacon of musical excellence, a place where young talents converge to create beautiful symphonies. We are a community-based ensemble that nurtures the musical abilities of youth in the Rockhampton area and beyond.
To inspire and educate young musicians, providing them with the opportunity to develop their talents, perform in a supportive environment, and grow both as artists and individuals.
To be recognized as a leading youth orchestra, celebrated for our contribution to the cultural fabric of Rockhampton and for fostering the next generation of musicians.
RYO members range from enthusiastic beginners to accomplished young musicians to the young at heart, all united by a shared love of music. Our orchestra is a diverse group, reflecting the rich tapestry of our community.
From classical masterpieces to contemporary compositions, RYO’s repertoire is as varied as the musicians who play it. We believe in challenging our members while also providing the joy of playing familiar favourites.
Through performances, workshops, and community outreach, RYO plays a pivotal role in enriching the cultural life of Rockhampton. We believe in the power of music to bring people together and make a positive difference in the lives of our members and audiences.
