Rockhampton Youth Orchestra Inc. is proud to present our Winter Warmers Concert on Saturday 7 June 2025 at St Paul’s Anglican Cathedral.
This special mid-year performance will feature a vibrant program of classical and contemporary music performed by our talented young musicians. Audiences can look forward to works by Bizet and Beethoven, beloved jazz standards, and a selection of pieces arranged by our upcoming guest artist Andy Firth, ahead of his July workshop weekend.
We’re excited to showcase the energy, progress, and passion of our ensembles in this beautiful cathedral setting.

Are you a young musician looking for an exciting opportunity to grow and perform? The Rockhampton Youth Orchestra (RYO) is always on the lookout for talented new members!
Auditions for new members are held tri-yearly, and applications can be submitted at any time. Future audition dates will be announced here, so keep an eye on this page for updates!
Rehearsal Details:
📍 Location: RYO Room, Level 1, Walter Reid Cultural Centre, Rockhampton
🗓 Rehearsals: Saturdays from 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM during school terms
🎻 Conductor: Anne Svendsen & Shaun Fogarty
Throughout the year, we also host special music education events, activities, and concerts to further enhance the experience.
If you or someone you know is passionate about music, we encourage you to apply! Help us spread the word and give young musicians the chance to develop their skills and experience the joy of playing in an orchestra.

The Great Western Hotel hosts The Big Swing Sunday event on Sunday, 27th April bringing you the Rockhampton Big Band for an unforgettable afternoon of big band magic.
With up to 21 talented members—including skilled local musicians, seasoned retirees, music educators, and rising stars from Yeppoon and Rockhampton—this powerhouse band delivers timeless entertainment.
Under the direction of the charismatic Shaun Fogarty, the band’s lineup of saxophones, trumpets, trombones, percussion, and two stellar vocalists will take you on a journey through swing, Latin grooves, heartfelt ballads, and even modern hits, all performed with electrifying energy!
Catch The Rockhampton Big Band live at the iconic Great Western Hotel for an afternoon of smooth jazz, bold classics, and that unmistakable big band sound. Whether you're a lifelong jazz lover or new to the scene, this is a show you won’t want to miss!
