The Rockhampton Youth Orchestra (RYO Inc.) is well into an exciting and music-filled 2025! With Term 1 wrapped up and Term 2 about to begin, our young musicians are preparing for some of the most exciting events of the year.
We're proud of the momentum so far, with a fantastic start that included successful auditions, an energetic Open Day at the Walter Reid Cultural Centre, and standout performances such as SoundStone featuring Shaun Fogarty and Big Swing Sunday alongside the Rockhampton Big Band.
Now, all eyes (and ears!) are on our next big performance:
🎼 Winter Warmers Concert – Saturday 7 June at St Paul’s Anglican Cathedral
This mid-year concert will feature a vibrant program across classical, jazz, and contemporary styles – including arrangements by guest artist Andy Firth. With only six rehearsals remaining, our musicians are working hard to deliver a beautiful performance in the stunning setting of St Paul’s.
🎷 Looking Ahead – Andy Firth Workshop Weekend (18–20 July)
We’re excited to welcome clarinet and saxophone virtuoso Andy Firth back to Rockhampton in July for a full weekend of workshops, culminating in the Andy Firth Concert on Sunday 20 July.
🧠 Trivia Night – Postponed

For those of you already playing Saxophone and those who are considering adding Saxophone as a second instrument, our wonderful and inspiring RYO ensemble lead and assistant conductor Shaun Fogarty is now providing professional tuition in Rockhampton, Yeppoon and Emu Park.
Our 2024 Youth Music Scholarship Recipient Riley, who has been receiving his private tuition (since term 2) with Shaun can attest to how inspiring and thorough his saxophone lessons with Shaun are.
Please find Shaun's flyer and biography attached and tell your friends who play or are considering learning to play the Saxophone.
