Attuning to your soundscape workshop
On the 1st of March, Shaun Fogarty hosted a free workshop, 'Attuning to Your Soundscape', that explored sounds that shape our everyday lives, reconnecting with your sound environment, developing techniques for deep listening, critical listening, and environmental awareness to sound pollution.
Aeleatoric Windows
On Saturday February 14th, John Babbage and Shaun Fogarty presented 'Aeleatoric Windows'. The performance was split into two sessions, with the first session, an improvisation between Shaun and John sharing a series of harmonies and dissonance to create something new.
In the second session Shaun Fogarty invited members of the audience to grab a percussive instrument from the table and join in when they thought it was right, with RYO member, Isaac, bringing his Tenor Sax to join John and Shaun. The audience participation proved to have elevated the performance adding new sounds and texture.
It was truly a night to remember!

Winter Warmers Concert – June 2025
Held in the stunning surrounds of St Paul’s Cathedral, our Winter Warmers Concert was an afternoon of rich musical expression, featuring performances by the Rockhampton Youth Orchestra, RYO Jazz Band, Rockhampton Chamber Music Ensemble, and a masterful organ solo by Ivan Richardson, performed on “Artie,” the Roland Grand Orchestral Organ – a powerful and unforgettable moment in a truly special venue.
The Cathedral’s soaring ceilings and beautiful acoustics provided the perfect backdrop for a program of much-loved classics and toe-tapping favourites. The warmth of the music matched the warmth of our audience of over 150 guests, making this concert a memorable celebration of youth, talent, and community.
Choral Workshop with Lorraine Manifold – June 2025
On Sunday 1st June, RYO Inc. proudly hosted a free choral workshop led by the incredibly accomplished Lorraine Manifold, in collaboration with Unisong Choir. Held at the Walter Reid Cultural Centre, the workshop was an uplifting and energising afternoon of choral singing open to singers of all ages and experience levels.
Lorraine, a skilled conductor and vocal pedagogue with international training and experience, guided participants through a series of practical exercises focused on vocal technique, ensemble skills, and the joy of singing together. Her passion and warmth created a welcoming space where both new and seasoned singers felt inspired and empowered.
It was a wonderful opportunity for our local community to connect through music, learn from a respected expert, and experience the joy that comes from raising our voices in harmony.
